DAting Methods
1. What is relative dating? (hint: not when two cousins go on a date)
Relative Dating is sequence of events in which they occured.
2. When would a geologist use radiometric dating?
They use it to determine how old a rock is.
3. When would a geologist use radiocarbon dating?
They use it to determine how young a rock is.
4. Explain how you can use tree rings to date and study the recent past? (see p. 351)
They are valuable tool in the reconstruction of past evironments.
5. What is half-life?
Half life is amount of time it takes for half of a parent materials to turn into daughter material.
6. Explain how today's lab showed half-life.
Every penny that was heads up showed the parent and the tails is the daughter.
