They use it to determine how old a rock is.
3. When would a geologist use radiocarbon dating?
They use it to determine how young a rock is.
4. Explain how you can use tree rings to date and study the recent past? (see p. 351)
They are valuable tool in the reconstruction of past evironments.
5. What is half-life?
Half life is amount of time it takes for half of a parent materials to turn into daughter material.

Destruction

What are potentially more dangerous to people: volcanoes or earthquakes? Why?

Volcanoes are because with earthquakes you can replace the stuff but with volcanoes everything burns.

Give three examples of major destruction from volcanoes or earthquakes. (Include the location of the volcano/earthquake, the date that it happened, what exactly happened, and a picture of each)

Hawaii Region, Hawaii, earth quake, and 3/9,2009
ECUADOR - Guagua Pichincha volcano 2/20/09
West Coast/Alaska Tsunami 11/15/06
